Sportsmanship and Camaraderie
A few of contestants were ineligible to win but boy-howdy did the shine in this years event. No doubt they deserve bragging rights. theangler submits a catch of a life time. And our first female contestant (FisherMOM) finishes right up there with the top contenders, and lets not forget TubN2, What a fishing machine he has been this past season, he caught every thing but a flying fish, I bet if the rules had allowed him to use a butterfly net he would have brought one of those in for us too,,,
This has been our most spectacular contest held and friends I cant wait till next season.
WHAT A BLAST !!!
Thank you every one for your entries, and a especially thank you all who followed along and rooted for your favorite contestant.

Went out Yesterday it was a slow day I got 4 Ling (Red Hake) they are like a small cod in the fish markets they are sold as SCROD nothing big though I got lazy and had them filleted by the mates so no pictures also threw back some small spiny dogfish (Cape Shark) and some Conger eels but if I don't eat it I toss it back or give it to someone that does eat it and noboby eats dogfish it was a beautiful day on the water calm seas and no wind the deep freeze earlier in the week must have shut them down plus the boat was packed with about 60 guys which with all that heavy lead bouncing the bottom could have spooked them let me see can I think of any more excuses nah these will do
change in plans going out thursady instead the weather is going to be bad on monday snow wind and rough seas suposed to be 6-9 foot seas monday not good with a high temp of 33 on land so that will be alot lower on the water with the 25 mph wind going for Ling, Tautog, and cod and mybe some pollock if they get hungry
I'm goin out on monday for tautog gonna be cold but the fish don't mind
Who will be fishing this holiday season?Christmas Moon The smallest full moon of 2004 will brighten the nights around Christmas.
Rudolph coughed and sneezed. Ahh-choo! His nose was really red. The doctor nodded ruefully. "He has to stay in bed."
Rudolph had a cold, a bad one, plain to see. He wasn't going anywhere with Santa Christmas Eve.
Rooftops dark and tricky. (Hey ... where'd the chimney go?) That's what Santa has to deal with absent Rudolph's rosy glow. But Santa is a cheery soul and a smart one, too. He quickly had a bright idea: "I know what to do!"
Using special Santa-magic, he conjured up a moon, a full one, round and shiny. Who needs Rudolph? That old prune!
So... to those of you who don't believe in Santa, here's the proof: Look out the window Christmas Eve at the moonlight on your roof.
December 22, 2004: No Rudolph? No problem. This year there's going to be a full moon to light up the nights around Christmas. It's a special full moon, too: the smallest of 2004. Soaring high in the sky, it might remind you of a shiny white Christmas ball for your tree. Don't bother reaching for it... it's 406,700 km away! Technically speaking, the moon isn't 100% full until Dec. 26th. But that's perfect timing for Christmas carolers and Santa. The practically-full moon on Dec. 24th and 25th rises early, lighting up streets and rooftops as soon as the sun goes down. What makes this full moon small? Answer: The moon's lopsided orbit. Although astronomers say the moon "circles" the Earth, it doesn't, not exactly. The moon's orbit is really an ellipse. One side of the ellipse is 356,400 km from Earth; this is called perigee. The other side of the ellipse is 406,700 km from Earth; this is called apogee. Apogee is 50,000 km farther from Earth than perigee. When the moon is full and near apogee, we get an extra-small full moon. Such is the case this Christmas. Even the smallest full moons are very bright. They outshine Sirius, the brightest star in the sky, by twenty-five thousand times. They cast shadows, and provide enough light to read by. Finding chimneys? It's easy! If you get binoculars or a telescope for Christmas, take a look at the moon. It's absolutely beautiful--a world so close to Earth that you can see its craters and mountains and "seas" in exquisite detail. The moon is deserted now, but in the years ahead, according to the new Vision for Space Exploration, people will be walking around up there. Enjoy the moonlight and Merry Christmas, from Science@NASA.
So what dose all this mean to you as anglers looking to get in that extra fish this year?
To grant that Christmas Wish
alowing you to get in that last fish...
you will have untill January 10th
to to get in that vacation fish.
we know that there are going to be a few anglers out on the water these next 10 days, How do we know? just by looking at the solunar tables anglers already know that the fish are going to be bitting. Also if you have any fish sitting on a roll in your camera some where now is a good time to finish off that roll over the holidays and get them in to be developed and back in time to scan them
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good fish.
most of the boats run all winter unless the weather is to bad or the bay freezes up and they can't get out
Hi Hutch I just read your message today I wouldnt have been able to get out anyway due to my Ladies son was here from San deigo. oOne of these days we'll have to hook up and get out. Do the boats run out of Jersey most of the winter? Cold weather gear i've got.
Hey Chief them Dogfish are one big pain we ran into a bunch of them last summer fluke fishing between them and the searobbins what a challange to come up with a fluke you go through a ton of bait when they are around heavy I'm hoping to go out to the Mudhole next week maybe Saturday on a party boat out of the atlantic Highlands in Jersey if you are interested let me know you aren't that far from here gonna go on The Prowler they will be targeting Blackfish, Cod, Ling and Seabass the 4 best eating fish in the NY-NJ area
I'm gonna wait for the weather to break and go out for cod and ling if I'm lucky I'll get a nice one and some ling for insurance
Hey Hutch I went out on a cod trip last week, I should have saved you one for the contest. We didn't do great nothing big and not to many either. The dog fish were out in unbelievable numbers. I was reeling up a nice cod and my line got tangled with anotherperson who had a dog fish on, so I had to wait to finish bringing it in. When I got it to the surface half the fish was half gone, from being hit by a lot of dogs. I did manage to salvage two back fillets.
SHHHHHHush I was trying to leave tubin2 with a false sence of sucurity Na, ya got me,,,, I cant do my math with out a calculator any more , so are ya goina go to the peir and catch your self a mackeral to put your self over?
Hey Dave I just looked at the standings when you add my Blackfish (Tautog) it brings me to within 5&1/2 inches away from catching 1st so close yet so far
right now my only shot would be a Striper upgrade if the weather would settle or maybe an early Cod trip in Dec. but the ocean hasn't been to calm lately we've been getting alot of east winds which kick up the surf and make big swells out in the ocean the reports from guys I know fishing the beaches its taking 8-10 ounces of lead to hold bottom in the surf I had to use 6 ounces on the Blackfish trip there are some party boats that are starting to go out to deeper water looking for Ling and Cod. Ling is also known as red hake. My only problem is that the weather conditions don't always cooperate on my days off the Atlantic Ocean in this area is very unpredictable this time of year and this year the winds are really kickin it up a notch But I'll give it my best shot I've gone out on days when the ocean was almost like it was in the movie "The Perfect Storm" that one day even the Captain of the boat was hanging over the rail
Your movin on up, to the top, that is you are one 31 inch fish from movin in to first place on the salt water division.... congradulations on a valiant effort.... you expectin any fall or early winter runs your way?
Saltwater Tautog (Blackfish) 24 inches 11/18/04 sandy hook reef NJ atlantic ocean On the Wall of fame [signature]

Well, I finaly found that pic of me holding the Golden Redhorse Sucker. Took some doin with all the fish pic's I had taken this year. I actualy found it by axident, I was looking for another fish picture to have it printed to enter Fred Trost practical sportsmans award banquet this coming march. at any rate I edited it in with my measurment pic on the original golden redhorse sucker entry, so later this week I will be editing the sucker back in to my score. for those of you keepin score I think it will add only 6-7 points to my score, sad part is that the fish is 17 inches long...LOL any way that last big fish seemed to scaired away all the little ones...LOL hopefuly I will get out this weekend and bring in that larg mouth bass missing form my count.... I cant beleive here it is almost halloween and I have yet to enter a Largemouth Bass..... Honest guys and gals, I did catch them this year, I just did not have a camera with me when I released them....
Hello Guys and Gals, Thank you! It was a blast to catch! Like I put in the post I actually caught one 80" and it took a bit over 40 minutes to land. I didn't want to count it because the hook was actually set by my host on this trip who catches these big dogs often one of the great members of this board from Utah Kent (kentfnsl). I also fought one that may have even been bigger then the 80"(we got a look at it when it jumped out of the water) on twenty pound line for over 20 minutes even had to follow it in the boat a stretch but lost it when it ran to the front of the boat and I couldn't get around quick enough. They are a blast to catch!!! They were high on my list of fish I would like to catch in my lifetime too and although I had it built up in my head I must say it was in no way a let down, they do provide the EXCITEMENT I hoped they would! Well worth the 1000 mile drive! Back when we first started these photo contests that fish might have REALLY helped my score but the way this years scores look (and with my late start again this year), I know I still have a long way to go!!! Thanks again!
Mike, that's gorgeous! Where's you find her? I need one about 10 inches longer.
Nice fish Mike you wupped my Shark by 11 inches Congrats I don't think I'll be able to top that one the only way would be if I happened to hook a nice big Cow Striper when they start their fall run in about a week or so but but stripers that big are few and far between The Biggest fish crown was getting to heavy anyway time to pass it over to you
WOW the angler! Congrats!!! Sturgeon.... a fish on my list of fish to catch in my lifetime! Very nice fish!!!!
sorry, it wasnt me wished it was, and I did try to get one... but you know me, I am not one for spreading rumors...LL he will post it when he gets a chance....
UPGRADE Saltwater Black Seabass 15 Inches 10/11/2004 Atlantic Ocean,Long Branch NJ
Saltwater Porgy (Scup) 12 Inches 10/11/2004 Atlantic Ocean Asbury Park NJ On the Wall
Well Lets see it What did you catch Another Salmon I can't take the suspence
you asked for it, so here it is, the story behind how they got to michigan. remember Mine is only 15 pounds, that is only half the size they get.
OH MY, Bummer, the rumor mill has it that you may have been bumped out of the Big Fish position (not officialy because of who it is that may have bummped you) Wait till you see this bohemouth Have you heard the rumors?
It's all about CPR for me, my friend. CPR is the way to go. Catch, photograph, and release.
nice bass, I gotta get out and get me a counter LMB. Looking at my score I cant beleive I dont have a counter yet... I have caught them, just did not have my camera on hand when doing so. I tend to throw them back. I will only keep one or two a year.
Here's a potential upgrade. It depends on whether or not the photo is accepted since you can't really see the measuring tape. Sorry, I forgot my usual measuring tape at home. Had to use the one on the scale. Fresh or Salt Water - Fresh Name of the species - Largemouth Bass (northern strain) Length (weight optional) - 20.5 inches (4 lbs) Date caught - today of course! Hehe. Oct. 10, 2004 City and state caught in - Coon Rapids, MN (Crooked Lake) Feel free to edit the photo if it needs to be shrunk down a bit. I really need to find some photo-editing software that allows me to crop and resize without a problem.
well I dont wanna be down grading now do I? the biggest goby I have seen was about 8 inches in lenth.
Of course we want to count Gobies! They're a species, are they not?
Gotcha. He's brown all over. Hard to tell considering the light situation but I've never seen one come out of this lake with a black belly. Either brown or yellow. This one was definitely not yellow. Oh! And guess what! I found one last hook-safe! Now if I can just remember to keep it in the picture. Does it count if it's on the rim of my hat?
that may be, but do we realy want to count Gobie's?
i coulda left my stringer at home , it wouldn't have made any differance at all , maybe a different deodarant is in oder , i meen order . dave did catch and release over on the east side , one fish after another , never batted an eye about it either . at one point he had 5 in a row , i was still changing from fly to fly or spinner to spinner .
nope, he is a counter... if he has a yellowish belly he is a yellow bullhead. if he is black all over he is a black if he is brown all over he is a brown. just let us know what color his belly is and we will know what he is.
Oh darn! You mean I need to get back out there and catch the same bullhead for the profile shot? What is the difference between them? I believe there's also yellow's in this lake. Seen some good sized yellow bodied bullheads come out of there.
in order for us to be able to distinguish one bullhead from the next we have to have a profile veiw. we have blacks browns and yellows here in michigan.
Great pic of the two of you! So where's the stringer full of fish? Not sure if I'll be getting out Sunday or not. Depends on how things go Saturday (have an out-of-town birthday/retirement party to go to).
Fresh or Salt Water - Fresh Name of the species - Either black bullhead or brown bullhead. I don't know the difference... yet. Length (weight optional) - 7 inches of fury. It wouldn't let go of my finger when I tried to throw him back in the water! Teach me to stick my finger in its mouth for picture taking. Date caught - October 6, 2004 City and state caught in - New Brighton, MN (Long Lake) Sorry about the pictures. I'm still having problems with my computer. Hope the pics downloaded okay. Had my girlfriend's kid take the pics. I should take him with me more often. He'd rather take pictures than fish so I'd have a full time photographer on hand!
Howed they get to michigan ? Once they heard about davetclowns secret formula fish bait , they just had to try it out, swimming all that way ain't so hard when you got fins , lol ! of course thats just a story .... , the real truth is they wanted to see and get a good laugh at that "lonehunter dood " standing waste deep in water trying to catch fish with that big old cookie duster under his nose , lol ! dave and i were just across the river from each other on sunday and didn't know it , but we fished on the other side of the state together that friday ! i got skunked on both sides of the state and dave was reeling in fish one after another , man , he can fish !!!!!!!!!!!
these are land locked salmon planted in the great lakes. any one wanting hook safes or any other BFT gift items can find them on the BFT Gift Shop link found in the upper right hand corner of every page.
How in the world did an Alaska Salmon get into Michigan waters? Beautiful fish! I'm sure it was more fun than that minnow you put in the glass of salted water for your first 2 incher in the salt-water category. By the way, how can I get ahold of more of them hook safes in a jiffy? I wasn't paying attention when I gave away the last one I had. (Been handing them to people that are in the same vicinity as I am while shore fishing).
if you want to read the story behind this catch drop down to the michigan board. it is told under the post shootin master angler fish in a barrol. this salmon by the way is a master angler fish. #6 for me this year. I thought I was all done when I landed number 5. this one is just the iceing on the cake... And HOW SWEET IT
No selling needed here Have rod will travel heck I went 1800 miles to catch some of my fish
I know what you mean, I have to drive just about as far if not farther to get at them. 5-5.5 hours one way at 65 miles per hour. yep, could-a baught one at the corner market for far less than it cost to catch one, but I dont have to sell you on the catching part
Nice Salmon we don't have salmon in NJ have to go to NY for them
Thanks Dave, the outside dememsions are 24'X 32'. We put epoxy on the floor last week so we can't put the trucks back in till thursday. I just started doing the electric, that should take me a few days to complete and get it inspected. I know I want light in it for when we start deer hunting because it will be a great area to hang and dress a deer. The outside finish is not going to happen until next spring or if I win a bunch of money in Vegas in two week.
That is one fine looking garage. well worth the efforts I would say. looks like some pretty good craftsmanship... you could just about put my house in that thing for the winter...
thanks... I have been pretty bussy the last couple days... I will show the pic in the next day or two to show how I have been spending my time. I have a new entry, but it may take a day or two to get the pic up...
DAVE! That's the biggest rock bass that I have ever seen in my life! very nice... the bluegill too!
Thanks Ocean it was a nice fight they make a lot of runs had him to the boat 4 times before we could try to gaff him but the 5th time was the charm
Nice kingfish !I havent tangled with one of those in years !
Some pics of were my time has been spent. I took this project thru excavation, concrete forms to carpentry, next is electrical.
yeh Dave the roof I just did this past weekend and the rain from Jeanne did not pass thru. I will post a pic soon. I almost made the garage bigger than the house as well, just about 8' shy.
sounds like a nice project. hope ya at least got the roof on... I need a garage too, so I can put my house in it and keep it out of the rain.... (inside joke, All my nighbors all have garages bigger than my house)
Dave you are a fishing machine this year!!!!! I still have time to better you. I have been bussy building my garage for my trucks and toys to be covered for the winter. Cathy is epoxying the floor today and I still have the electrical to do. Material cost have gone up so much I have run out of funds to get it totally finished this year. I'll post a pic of it soon. Larry
Thanks, I sure know what you mean by limitations... I was thinking of a salt water entry, But I dont know how much salt to put in to a glass of water to make a minnow to make it a salt water species Good luck, I will anxusly for your entries....
Good Job Dave and yes it has been a good year of fishing and congrats on the 5 master angler awards we don't have that here I just counted my entries and I see I need 4 more to make 16 in the saltwater catagory I better get my butt out there freshwater I am kind of limited to what I already entered I don't think I'll have the chance to get out for Largemouths this year unless I go to a lake and rent a boat but I've been concentrating on salt more and more lately just something about being out on the ocean and bays that makes you want to stay out there
looks like the pic of the golden red horse wasnt on that roll of film, I will have to remove the points untill I can find that pic of me holding it.... in the mean time I hope every one will enjoy a few upgrades of mine in the following post.
Fresh or Salt Water - Freshwater Name of the species - Channel catfish Length (weight optional) - 22 inches (3.7 lbs) Date caught - 9/27/04 City and state it was caught in - New Brighton, MN (Long Lake) Sorry about the measuring tape. Didn't realize it was twisted. Hard to take pictures in the dark.
My computer automatically logs me in. It's called "cookies". Hehe. I was refering to Lonehunter's inability to remember how. So anyway, got another fish tonight. See next post!
Great looking largemouth bass DDR! glad you remembered how to log in this time!!
* Fresh or Salt Water - Freshwater, unless somebody dumped a ton of salt in the lake * Name of the species - Largemouth Bass (northern strain... wish the Florida strain would survive up here) * Length (weight optional) - 18 inches * Date caught - Today... i don't know why it didn't load the first time but this should do the trick . 35" of king salmon cought bottombouncing a home tied spawn sack at tippy dam on the manistee river in welman michigan , six pound test line , or was it 8 lb. test ? hmmmmmm , by the time i tell this story a couple more times i'll have ended up talking this fish outa the river with my charming ways , after all it is a female salmon don'tcha know , lol !!!!!!
The pic just isn't showing up over here. Even after everything else has loaded. Hmmm.....
with all the pics on this string it takes a little time to load , you can hit the michigan board and see them there too . i'm gonna try for a bigger fish this weekend . there not the easiest fish to land the way i fish for them , thats probably one fish out of 60 hook-ups i got . or you could say one fish out of a thousand casts , literaly ! i'm fishing below a big dam with fast water , the fish only hit and move at night , i am standing waste deep in the river , sholder to sholder with other fishermen in a line that can strech as far as the first coffer (100 yards ) or down below 1/4 mile to a mile of guys all in a row . in total darkness , a 10'.5" fishing rod with 6 lb. test line 3/8 sinker and a 3 to 6 foot leader on hooks as large as a # 6 down to a #18 . sounds dang hard or impossible to do but it rocks ! the difference between fishing like this and regular fishing would be like taking a kiddy ride on a teter-toter or blasting off in the space shuttle . these salmon can reach about 50 lbs. too ! you have got to try this once buddy , it totally rocks !!!
remember I am not eligable to win... but I am making a run for first place for the fun of it... did I mention I have two more fish to enter now, just as soon as the camera is full of pictures I will get the rool developed.... two of them are master angler fish.... I have met my goal (new years resolution of getting 5 master angler awards for 2004), well just as soon as it is validated by the state of michigan that is....
well you have to try to get you the fish and the ruler in... but I know how it goes if you are the only one fishing and your arm just isnt long enough to get in the shot. as for the fish in lone hunters picture you might need to grab a manifying glass to see it..LOL that fish is bigger than anything I caught this year. and that includes my big carp....
So where's the fish?
So it's okay if I'm not in the picture during the measuring phase of the photo? As long as there's also a picture of me holding the fish and the BFT logo? Man, if I woulda known that, I'd have lots of pics already!
well let's get the talking part done and get to the doing part cause i'm bout to get serious on all ya'all , lol ! can't enter this lil ' gal or the kitty i got this past weekend cause i didn't meet the contest requirements . but look out , i'm heading out again this weekend !!!!!!! female king salmon , and on 6 lb. test line , man , thats fishing , yeee haaa !!!!!!
Hello DDR, I am not really sure what kind of sunfish (I caught it in Canyon Lake, Ca.), at the time I was thinking it would be the bait kind (lol). Good luck on the Sturgeon run. I know what you mean about making up a ton of pionts, I am currently trying to find a pike to do just that.
What kind of sunfish was that 5 incher? I haven't been bringing my camera with me lately. Wish I would have. There's been a ton of bluegills caught, some half-decent ones also. I'm hoping to make a trip to the Columbia River before it gets too late for some Sturgeon fishing. Lookin' forward to catching that 120 inch fish and taking over the "largest fish" category, and making up a ton of points.
nice job Chief!
I'll say it moves ya up, and in a big way to boot... all the way up to third place, (aka second place) Congradulations on a great catch. I have been looking for one of them all summer... maybe tomarow I will find one.... that puts you a stergeon away from me and a salmon away from Lonehunter
Here we go guys the Chief is going to do a position change with this fish. Fresh water Redfin Pickeral (Pike)39 and 3/4 inches long weight 10 lbs. caught from shore from Reichards Lake in the Town of Sand Lake NY at approx 4PM. I was throwing a grey Kinami bait by Yamanoto on a number 5 wire bait hook. Not much fight in this old guy with teeth missing on his left side just like dragging in a log.
ya gotta love them circle hooks. I have started using circle hooks on fresh water fish and it sure makes the difference. I would have to say I catch 90% of the ones that would slip off my regular hooks. I have noticed a drastic increes of trout and walleye and pike landings
Thanks glad I could turn the heat up a little now I'm just waiting for the fall and winter salt waterspecies to start showing up they don't get as big as those fish but they will add points unless I manage a nice big slab Blackfish[Tautog] they are good eating too known as poor mans lobster that shark I caught was one hell of a fight even after we gaffed him but the King mackeral fought longer he didn't give up to easy made 7 runs almost spooled me one run as soon as the gaff went in the water he would take off good thing I had him hooked in the jaw bone with a circle hook
Darn! That would beat the smallie I caught by half an inch!
thanks Dave. all my LMB's have been around this size. Can't wait to catch them so-called 20 inchers. FisherMOM, that is a beauty of a fish. How many species is that now? Hmmm, that gives me a great idea! How about for next years contest, have a contest for the smallest fish also.
say Byrum, Can I get you to send me copys of your fish in a pm so I can edit them in to your entries. the pic's in your post disapered.
Thanks Dave, and I agree... they are hard to catch! They have teeny tiny mouths, and I had a size 6 hook. I was also wishing I had somewhere to fish this guy too... bet I could have gotten a nice Pike or bass on this!
Well you certainly know how to put on the preasure. in a big way at that, Congradulations on moving in to the holder of the big fish catigory. The way the numbers were going when I was adding your score I though you were going to pass Tubn2.
I have been known for targeting them bait fish and then going out to deaper waters and using them for bigger fish... It is amazing to catch a minnow that big. I think my first or second pic I posted (not entered) was a rainbow shiner about the same size.... those little bait steelers are hard to catch.... congradulations that too is no easy task to pull up. you have to set the hook just right to land them...
Thanks! That's my 3rd largemouth bass ever.
All of the pictures I just posted will also be on the wall of fame

Woohooo! Another one for the contest! Hehe... funny thing is, just before I caught this fish, I was telling Duncan (my girlfriend's 6 yr old) that I better put the batteries in the camera just in case we caught some fish. We had already been out there for 45 minutes and we were getting cold with the cold front blowing in across the lake. It wasn't more than 3 casts after putting the batteries in the camera that I caught this one. Duncan was too cold to fish but was happy to be the camera kid. The fish was caught at Crooked Lake. It was just the two of us at the time. Caught it on a Terminator Snapback Creature Bait with a "Slo-Poke Grubmaster" shoved through the nose, into the body, and the hook coming out it's back. This is like a tube jig with the eye of the jig coming out the nose of the creature bait. I figured, the design of the "grubmaster" would keep the head and from part of the belly face down with the floating plastic at an angle upward as I slowly crawled the creature bait back to me, pausing once in a while. I had 7 strikes tonite. Some while stopped. Some while dragging. This fish was my 6th strike. I got a good hookset and reeled him in. Being new to bass fishing and plastics fishing I was quite surprised I actually caught one. I put all my reading knowledge to work for this one fish. As soon as I had him in, I realized my BigFish baseball cap was in the car. My t-shirt wasn't a BigFish t-shirt. I frantically dug through my tackle box, was getting ready to run to the car with fish in hand, when Duncan pointed to the back of my tackle box and asked, "Is this what you're looking for?" What a relief for not only me, but the bass as well! That poor thing had been out of the water for almost a minute by this time! I measured the fish and Duncan snapped the picture! Okay, enough story telling. I'm sure you want to see this beauty. Here's the required details: * Fresh or Salt Water...............Freshwater * Name of the species................Largemouth Bass * Length (weight optional)...........17 inches * Date caught........................Aug 18, 2004 * City and state it was caught in....Coon Rapids, MN
thanks and god bless you too... every one is alive, but they are struggling for power, and water is in shortage.... the only comunications is through cell phones.. all land lines are dead and as you may have heard already it may take up to 6 weeks to get power and phone lines back up and running. the mail is running so if any one has a letter it may get there faster than a land line phone call.... let every one know... it is no good for any one to go down there unless you have property there and are assing damage and cleaning up. there are no stores or any thing open for that matter... so any one going will only put additional stress on an already depleated resorces. so if you know of any one going down tell them to take more than enough food and water for the stay and leave any left overs behind with those who need it when they return.
Gee Dave..hope everything is ok with your family.... I have been sending prayers already for there.. will add you and yours to the list.
My opologies to you and any one else who has been looking for the updated scores. I have had and will have for the next couple weeks my attention towards florida. I have lots of family down in ground zero of "Charlie" I updated the score page today to bring every one up to speed...

Fresh water. I caught this 24" Walleye on June 19 2004 but I had to wait for the camera to be finished up and then get it proccessed this fish will replace the last walleye posted. I caught it from Black Lake by Edwardsville NY about 7:30 in the evening I was drifting a dixie spinner tipped with a night crawler.
fishingirl says i can head down to the beaverton dam after work wendsday , they had rain all afternoon while it stayed dry up here . there's muskey to be had there, mostley undersized , a elderly lady however got a legal +6" sunday afternoon ... on a zebco 202 ! she did hand the rod off to a guy with a little more experiance with the big fish , he got it in for her . he had to carry it to her car because the teeth scared her , biggest fish she ever had in her life . man i woulda payed good money to have been there that day , her fish of a lifetime !!! to whoever the guy was , good job !!
i misplaced my lil' chief smoker racks so i put a couple apple logs ( about 3" diameter ) in the B-B-Q grill , set it on a low setting and now i have quite a few fish steaks to enjoy as a t.v. snack . i've been waiting now for 5 weeks since i droped off the boat motor for a tune up . once it's done i'm hitting the waterways , i just can't wait much longer . i might have to resort to using mr. quackers as a float tube , lol !!!!
yeper's, them rockies are quite the scrapper.
nope , no stepping on my food , he headed for the smoker .i do say he fought just like a pike thou , gave that 4 lb. test a workout .

Just click the link in Dave's signiture 16 species contest 2004
So where's the score sheet? I can't seem to find it.
Here is a picture of the most saut after fish from this corner of New york. I did not caught this fish this year so it won't qualifiy for points. But if it did it would be in the lead for largest fish so far. This striper was caught in the hudson river just north of the I 90 bridge. It is 40" long and weighted 26 plus pounds. I had to play this female for 40 minutes on 15 lbs. test, man was the line singing!!!
I hear that, michigan got us by the wallet... we have two different $24 state park stickers one for each side of the winsheild, I have to have both becuse I never know which sticker I need for which park. they gave me a list one time but I cant remember what I did with it...
Hey Dave I would have to just put in a picture of myself because NYS has us by hook line and sinker.
Well I just posted the new scores, Lonehunter has just pulled in to the lead on the fresh water division, (Way to go AL) and Tubin2 is still holding the lead on the big fish and the salt water division. Show your state's pride by entering your state's prized fish species in the 16 species contest.
FRESH WATER 16" SMALL MOUTH BASS DATE JULY 3, 2004 FROM LAKE WINNIPESAUKEE,MOLTONBOUGH NEW HAMPSHIRE BAIT PLASTIC WORM APPROX. 11 AM
well I would say it counts, the only thing you didnt do is set the hook, but you did spend the 15-20 minutes it takes to land a gold fish that size. Congradulations Nice Catch, just wait untill you land a 36 incher....
Well Dave, the creek was flooded, so no trout for me this week, but... hee hee!!!!!! I get to add a few more inches.. I caught the biggest caro yet for me! 31 inches and 15 pounds of gorgeous carp! MAN, I love fighting those fish!!!! This is how it happened... maybe it wont be allowed. My Step mother in law had a line in the water, and she was holding the rod when the carp took the bait (a bagel piece) When she felt it's size, she gave me the rod and said "HERE, you bring it in!!" We have a few pictures of the fight between me and creek carp! I think this was the one that tried to kill me earlier this year! I caught 2 carp this weekend, this was the second one! Dang, it felt good!!!!! Celeste was helping me here!
Freshwater fish division . first is the rockbass 9" that replaces the 7" posted earlier . cought bottombouncing a leach at the foote dam spillway , footsite village , oscoda , michigan on 7-17-04 . second but not entered but worth a pic is a 19" channel cat . third freshwater division is a 22" channel cat cought bottombouncing a leach at the foote dam spillway , footsite village , oscoda , michigan on 7-17-04 . and the last freshwater entry for today is a whopper , a 3"creyfish cought bottombouncing a leach at the foote dam spillway , footsite village , oscoda , michigan on 7-17-04 . freshwater division , a 22" walleye replacing the 21"walleye cought bottombouncing a leach at the foote dam spillway , footsite village , oscoda , michigan
Sorry about the pic guys. I tried to get the photographer to get my hat in there (you can see the bottom of the logo if you look closely) and I wasn't even thinking about the angle of the fish. Kinda hard to retake the photo now. You'll hafta believe me on this one. i did manage a whopping 3" bullhead on sunday , but i figured i could do better . my fishing partner fishingirl2 will be celebrating her B-day this weekend , she's the one who helped in the outdoor show . we will get a pic or two to post this weekend .
sure has been quiet here on this string this week. I wonder if every one has taken the week off? (to make their secreate pattern for their big fish) I am going to target me a big fish next week.., A bigger fish than the one I already have. I think I am still lacking 4-5 species....
I went out last friday night for stripers and only caught 1 bluefish but already entered a bigger one the only other fish I caught were searobbins and dogfish(sandsharks) but I didn't have a camera with me on the boat and I didn't want to kill a fish I wasn't going to eat just so I could take a picture of it but next time watch out I'm going friday for Fluke and hopefully I'll catch a nice 10 pound doormat fluke and I will take a picture of that
that ones a little pup go to the wall of fame for the nmonth of may and check out the 42" one i got last year....and don't forget to rate it while your there LOL

Boy Dave it seems like yesterday you were a 1/2 a point behind me Now I really have my work cut out for me next week at Black lake. Maybe I can get one of the muskies and take over the big fish lead.
that is some mighty fancy fishing you be dooing there... nice catch
I got tired of rusting tape measures too.... so I got me a wooden yardstick! .50 cents at Walmart! hee hee! Yeah, I love them tall gills too.... they looks tough! grr... haha! I let him go, it's a catch and release pond that I fish.
I had me one of them nice aluminum yard sticks, but my short term memory got the better of me one day last winter, I left it out on the lake (I didnt mean to polute) any way, my biggest fish is bigger than a yard stick... I need to get me another tape measure, my last two are rusting..... by the way nice gill... I like to see them tall like that... lots of good eats on gills that dimention...
yeah Dave, I know you prefer us in the pic...that is why I take at least 2 pictures. I take one so you can see it clear with the tape measure, and then I scrambled to get in front of the camera and hold still, this mean little bluegill for a picture! ha ha! What a site I must be when I am doing this!!!! I take the FISH ALONE picture, just to record the real length. I do own a yardstick now, and need to bring that with me when I fish.
HI guys, we realy have to get you in the picture with the fish. I understand that it may be hard to hold the camera fish and ruler at the same time, you can hold the fish in front of you and then lay it on the ground for a ruler shot..... I will except those.... there are a number of times when I cant hold the fish so that is why I do two shots just to so my self and then the rulered fish....
Got a 7.5 inch Bull Bluegill today. What a hog it was! Caught it on a piece of nightcrawler.....
FRESHWATER SPECIES #12 , 8.5" BLUEGILL, COUGHT ON 5-27-04 WIGGINS LAKE DAM , GLADWIN , MI. ON A 6"RAPALA , THAT'S RIGHT A LURE ALMOST AS LONG AI IT WAS .
1 pound crappie dyersburg tn 38024 caught on fly rod on nynphy,10 inch
6 and a half pounds fresh water large mouth bass caught in dyersburg tn,18,1/4 inch on a minnow with six pound test cajun line.
YOU GO GIRL!!! Just keep them biggens coming. As you already know, you can always upgrade. I plan on putting a few upgrades in myself during this weekend. Nice fish.
Thanks Dave... I did check my scale today, and it seems fine! so it's going down in the records as 12 pounds! That means that there are even BIGGER carp in the pond and creek. Slap on some corn, toss it in.. and HANG ON BABY!!!!
I have fished for carp for over 35 years, I can tell how much they just by looking at them.. there is no doubt that your carp is 12 pounds, I wouldnt be suprized if it weighed 15 pounds.... them carp are living vacume cleaners, they suck every thing up off the bottom of the rivers and lakes.... A carp can weigh in excess of 1 pound per inch in lenth.... Carp is the only fresh water fish that can make that claim.... (at least that is the only one I can think of)
I couldn't believe it went 12 pounds either! It was a heavy fish no doubt! Rock solid! unless my scale is wrong.... hmmmm... I'll have to figure out some way to check my scale tomorrow. I wish I'd measured it's girth... it wasn't a lightweight, that's for sure. Pictures usually don't do justice. I caught a 24 incher once, it was 3 pounds. Maybe there is a difference in a creek carp and a pond carp. no current to fish in a pond... just easy swimming... most of the time, unless a hook is stuck in your throat!
Wow!! Nice fish there fishermom!! I cant believe that thing is 12 lbs!!! It must be eating pretty damn good!! I just caught a 25 incher and that was only 5lbs. Nice Catch
whoooo hoooo !!! congradulations ! beat the stuffins outa my bugle mouth bass bigtime !
Funny you should mention teh net!!! when I pulled mine in I netted him and got him ashore when he busted a hole right through my net head first!!!!... Last time I spend $5 on a Meijiers net!!! I now have a hole in my net big enough to allow a 20 inch LMB swim though freely!!!
Dont be shy, Throw that Pupy in there then go after a bigger one!!! the season has just begun... good luck!!!....
AW Man I have heard of Black Lake, It manifests some Awsome fish best of luck to ya!!! looking forward to hearing Tails of your adventures!!!
Thanks Dave!! it really was lurking around the 28 mark, but it wouldn't stay stretched for the pictures.
You are right... what a great fight!
I would have loved to have done that a few more times today.
when I saw it the first time in the water when I was fightin' it,
I looked at my little 14 inch net and laughed!!
It was a matter of tiring him out ~ and me too!!
OOOOOOOO Leeeeee!!!!1 If you had pinched that tail you would have gained another inch!!! and I am going to give it to you!!! I have fought many a 28 incher in my day!!!! and in the words of Hank Hill "I"LL TeLL you What"!!! them are some fighters... No wonder the Uripians prize the species!!! There aint nothing like a freaight train hangin on the end of your rod!!!!! when you think you've got them that jus hyball it!!!! What a rush.... Great catch congradualtions!!!!
Nice carp there Dave
Wooo hooo... finally I got one! The first time it was on...broke my line. So I switched to my baitcaster strung with Power Pro and a steelleader. The second time it got on, we fought a while, and it bent my hook. The third time's a charm.... I rigged up my baitcaster with Power Pro 20 lb. test line and a Stinger hook full of corn! YES, A STINGER HOOK!! This carp could NOT get away. Fought me well, and I was racing the clock.... I had to get home in time for the school bus! Some guys were on the other side of the pond watching. My sneakers and pants are soaked...but I got my fish The final length and weight .... 12 pounds and 27 inches long.
We fish below the falls and dam. I haven't heard of a fall run of stripers in the hudson no salmon either. 3 weeks and it's my annual run to Black lake so I can load up on fish there.
Aint that the truth with any fish. Just like realestate, "Location Location Location on the right day and what you have to offer is the name of the game" maybe you will get a chance this fall... Or do you guys get a fall run on them stripers? do you ever run in to them atlantic salmon or are you on the up hill side of the falls?
Hi Dave, nice fish and I hope it stands up for you, We have been down striper fishing and I was not lucky enough to hit the tides right or there were just small windows of when the bite was on and I wasn't in the right place. they are still around but I also can't make room to chase them right now. Maybe next year.
Hi Larry, I wanted to brag a little about my sucker I caught. I sent it in to the state for reconition, I received my award patch wich I will be sewing on my bft shirt. I edited in a pic of the state award patch on page one with the sucker. right now (knock on wood) this sucker is holding first place for largest (by weight) of its species for the state of michigan for the year of 2004. gotta love when you get a fish you can brag about.... wich reminds me, have you gotten the oppertunity to get out for them striped bass?
I made it out mon tues and wensdays this week. you talk about good fishing, them fishies were fightin like cat and dowg fish to get on my hook in three days I pulled in a half dozen species. I am going to take a break for a couple days to let the noarce god go by and do his think... lots of folks under water this weekend around here, I wont worry about my back yard for a at least a week or two, it is already waist high in weeds and knee deep in water. lawn mower refueses to run under those conditions. I guess I could put the trolling moter on the row boat and go around the back yard to knock down some of the tall stuff...
couldn't get out this weekend I had all the Honey do's to get done this weekend Put up a new white vinyl fence accross the front of the yard [Oh my aching back] tomorrow it mow the lawn and build a huge plant section infront of the fence and plant some rose bushes and fill it with red cedar mulch then clean out the shed and get the yard back in shape after the long winter trim the trees all that good stuff that I've been putting off to go fishing but this outa earn me some fishing points and I'll be back out there soon
I couldnt emagin his weight, he is already eating 3-5 pound mallards whole!!! last year he was eating about 1 mallard every other day that I saw... what I mean to say I saw him eat 6 mallards in three weeks time. how big dose a fish have to be to have an apitite like that!!!!!
That ole boy should get you some points. If it was by weight, then I'd let him eat 3 or 4 ducks before weigh in time.
yep, I am talking about the one who is swalling mallard ducks whole
You talking about the one that keeps getting away with your hook?
Caught a carp on a french fry today... well, Actually I caught 2 carp and a bluegill. This carp was around 14 inches... tough call, here are two pics of it! Take your pick ...call it 13 or 14..either way, I gain a point, maybe 2
stergeon is on my list too, I half to wait till june before I can even get the tag from the dnr they have been protected here in michigan for a number of years now. the season opens the 16th of july and closes agan september 30th. That is unless you can make it out to the middle of lake michgan and fish the boundry waters the season there is spetember 6th through november 1st. ***any one fishing for them must have a tag prior to fishing. there are only a couple places where you can catch them and keep them Lake st clair and the st clair river and mi and wis boundry waters. In the boundry waters the minimum lenth is 70+ inches, in the st clair area the size is slotted, between 42 and 50 inches every thing else must be released. there is one other season but that is by lottery on black lake in the middle of febuary, (Ice Fishing)

Hey Dave that is what is nice about these contest we get to go fishing more often. Sat I almost had a 36" eel to put in, that would have been tough to take a picture of. I'm still hoping for a striper, maybe this week they are being caught regularly now on the Hudson. Had to leave the water early on sat. because of thunder storms.

I've caught a couple other nice fish & a Red that would have upgraded me but I forgot my BFT shirt that day. Josh
Here is my first replacement fish. Last night my lady and I went to the Hudson river to have a dinner and fishing trip. This Herring was caught about 4:30 under the Menands bridge in Troy NY the date was 5/12/04 this is a monster of a herring at 16 inches, normally they run around 9 to 12 inches.
lol yep its already been an interesting year! At least I can say I held first place for a couple days that was untill the other guys started entering.... My first fish is a michigan master angler fish. I caught 5 master anglers of the same species... I said I was going to catch 5 master angler fish this year, but I didnt thing they were all going to be the same species.... ofcource now the worm waters have set in I will be targeting other species now.... We are looking forward to seeing your entries soon,,,, good luck...
Count me in! School's almost out which leaves me more time for on/in water experiences. Wow! I guess the bar has been set. What a great array of fish have been entered already.

We've been out twice for stripers and haven't been able to hook one but from everyone else around us it is the same. I did manage some herring and white perch and two hudson river cat fish this one was caught on chunk herring just south of Hudson NY on 5/1/04 in the Hudson river, it is 13.5 inches long. Both times we have been out the wind has been very strong because the fronts keep rolling through.

freshwater fish # 5 , 18" redhorse sucker , foote dam spillway , footesite village , oscoda , mi , on 4-24-04 , bottombouncing spawn bags . this was the first one of the day , and the smallest . and for you warm weather fishermen , note the color of those hands , yep , it's a little chilly out today .
I was trying to fish for Half moons with whole squid heads. The silly Garibaldis kept banging on it like there was no tomorrow.
Freshwater Brown Trout 12 Inches 4/24/04 Paulinskill river Lafyette NJ
Freshwater Brook Trout 12 Inches 4/24/04 Paulinskill river Laffyette NJ
If you want to fish for them, try getting some Sea Urchin meat and getting it on the hook. When I got my SCUBA certification that's what we were feeding them. They couldn't get enough of the stuff!
The Garibaldis go back in the water just as quick as I can catch them. There is a $1000 fine for keeping them. Some guys have been caught with an ice chest full of them and ended up doing time in jail + the fine for each one. We caught around 7 of them that morning. I saved $7000 that I can put towards a nice boat. ha ha.
Nice set of pics! But I got a question for ya... what did you do with the Garibaldi? Isn't it illegal to harvest them? I know it's fun SCUBA diving and feeding them by hand. What a blast!

all those you have mentioned are in the trout family, each one is a sepreate species.
Hey Dave do sub species of fish count as a fish like 1-rainbow trout 2-brown trout 3 brown trout or would I just count the biggest of the 3 types and post that I ask this because I'm going trout fishing saturday and all 3 are in the stream along with an occasional golden rainbow

Saltwater Winter Flounder 15 inches Raritan Bay Perth Amboy New Jersey Caught on 4/16/2004
Nice catch! Did you happen to get a measurement on those? In order to get points for the contest we need a visible measurement. (See Lonehunter's pic's for a sample.)
This is my first entry. Thats me in my Yellow fleece BFT pullover, and a BIG SMILE. catch includes a 12 pound Grouper, several 16-19 inche Vermillion snapper and a "small" Creole fish. these were caught in the Gulf of Mexico, Easter Sunday.
here's the un-cropped photo of that eye . i've still gotta figure out the date program for the camera .
you can look down from the boardwalk and see the lil eyes and suckers down there , was surprised i didn't get a sucker all day . but the eyes that were hitting would make you drule , nice eating size and a few heavy bruisers . had me a "i know would be a record eye " on for a bit , biggest walleye i ever saw . you coulda put a football in it's mouth . i never dreamed they could get that big . i might get to the pier today ( lot a begging and pleading to fishgirl will have to be done ) i saw on the outdoor magisine show that browns were near shore . who knows , maybe that stergon is stil hanging around , my #30 lb. BFT trolling rod needs a workout too , and a fish like that would be perfect for it's warm up excersizes .
Oh my Achin Back!!! AL you are walking all over it... lol congradulations on them nice catches. hay what happened to that 12 inch walleye from last year? I thought he might find his way back for another apearance.... lol.. well done, you pulled in to the lead on the fresh water class....
freshwater fish #3, a 28"steelhead cought at the foote dam spillway, footesite village , oscoda, mi. on 4-10-04 at about noon, bottombouncing with a canadian crawler . of the couple dozen other guys there only 2 steelhead were cought while i was there , the other lucky angler borrowed a crawler from me after i landed this gal .
freshwater fish #2 , 21" walleye cought at the foote dam spillway in footesite village , oscoda , michigan on 4-10-04 around 10 am . bottombouncing with a canadian crawler . landed about 10 of these fish today , actually had a monster walleye on that was as big as a log but we could not get it in a net before it broke off . all waleyes were released , there season is not open yet .
the only thing that matters is that you tell us what state you caught it in.
Does the big smelly stinky SKUNK I got the other day count it was a pretty bad skunk day out there I'll have to give it another shot next week also do fish caught in a state other than my own count I will be in Texas for 3 weeks this summer doing alot of fishing and you know what they say everythangs bigger in Texas
My first freshwater submission is a 20" Florida Strain Largemouth Bass caught on April 8th. The fish ate a 3" Big Hammer "Silverside" pattern swimbait at Diamond Valley Reservoir in Hemet Ca.: Josh
Well well well, Ya'll snuck one in on me again. I caught a 26 inch speck last weekend and about a 40 inch black drum the weekend before that. I just now noticed the new contest. I have pictures but no tape or BFT logo. Do I get any browny points for posting them on the wall of fame? LOL I guess I better get busy. Wooooo Whooo! Good Luck Guys
I am going to say go ahead and pin the sticker to your shirt or hat untll which time one can be proqurred.
Kool, I will be looking vary much forward to seeing what is hiding in the waters of Kansas.
I'LL BE FISHING OUT OF KANSAS, IF I TAKE THE KIDS TO SEE GRANDMA AND GRANDPA I'LL FISH TEXOMA THEY ARE ONLY ABOUT AN HOUR AWAY FROM THE LAKE.
Great!! where are you going to be fishing out of (state)?
YOU CAN COUNT ME IN ALSO WAS GOING TO ORDER A DECAL FOR MY TRUCK ANYWAY SO MIGHT AS WELL GET A HAT TOO.
Well you are doing fine just go back and edit in the stuff in red. congradulations. you just moved ahead in two cadigories.. salt and biggest fish... looks like this year's heat is going to be an eventfull one... you may want to envest in a one inch tape measture.
I spent the weekend @ Catalina Isl. looking for the WSB but only caught 1 right around the 28" mark that was released. I did manage to get photo's of 3 species for the salt water division:
The 1st. is a 14" cow Cod: The 2nd is a 19" Vermillion Rock Fish: The 3rd is a 26" halibut: Still trying to figure out how to get the pics in the report? Edit: Thanks Dave! All of the above fish were caught at Catalina Isl. 30 miles out of Long Beach, CA on April 3rd. Josh Dunlap
yes you do have to be in the picture with your fish. be sure to take two pictures, one with a ruler and one with out.
The one with the ruler goes on this string for your main points The second picture with out the ruler goes on the wall of fame for an extra bonus point.
Bigfishtackle Aparel is available at the BFT Gift Shop
I will have to get back to you with the sticker thing.
I take it you were fishing salty water, thats the only plce I know of where you can catch that many species in a day or three. would you mind sharing a little preview of what is coming? (drop a name or two of a couple species) Just want to know if I have to plan a bone fish trip... lol
Go ahead and count me in. I just came back from a good trip and rounded up around 13 or 14 species. I need to develope the film so that I can post them.
Would it be ok to have a bft sticker in the picture. I dont have any bft gear yet !!! Also do I have to be in the picture or just the fish and the tape measure. Thanks for the help !!!
good luck, I am going out this week to see if I can get a trout to pose in a picture for me this week. I went after the walleye a couple days ago but they were camera shy
I'll have to get in on this the spring striper run will be here soon and trout season starts next week I'll have to see what I can get on my hook
I have the score page up and running.... just click on the link under my frog to see every ones current standing. remember I am in it just for the fun of it, I am not eligable to win.
sory I lost the tail in the picture, but I thought you might enjoy seeing a minnow that is caught by hook and line. we dont have a recorded record for this fish, I have caught them about 12 inches of lenth in years past. they are edible, and are often called haring
Okay, as soon as I can get myself to the Columbia River on the Oregon/Washington border and can get a pic of me with a nice 10 foot Sturgeon, you can hand over the trophy. Hehe. That would be fun but I think that's going to be a trip for next year. Although I do want to get out there to visit my brother this year.
Hello Guys, Any BigFish clothing will work (hat, beanie, t-shirt, etc..). Also keep in mind you most definetly do not need to catch all 16 species. As a matter of fact most people don't. The name can be misleading. Really only your best 16 species count. But you could very easily win with only 5 species if they were big fish. Help us get the word out. The more folks we get to play the better. Also people can enter any time before Dec. 31st. Last year it was a fun close race all the way till the end!
You mean my BigFish hat won't work?
you can count me injust have to get a tee shirt
well i'll give it a try though i'm not sure we have 16 species in utah
Wooo. hooo.... well, hopefully I can enter some kind of fish soon! A big ole Brown trout would be sweet. I suppose I need to head to where they grow 'em big, as soon as the waters subside! thanks again! YIPPEE!!! yawn..heading to bed..gnite
It's no problem, we usually give shirts, hats or something after these on-line photo contests anyways. Your just getting yours early. Good luck in the competition, we'll look forward to your entries. I think you will be our first Lady angler entry! Way to go!!!
You guys are awesome, I never expected this in a million years..... are you really sure? I feel weird....
FisherMom, Send your address to firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll send a shirt out.
But what I am asking is..can I make my own Tshirt that says BigFishTackle with an iron on? um.... funds are not here at the time.. hubby just lost his job today. Looks like Momma is fishing for food now.
BUT A COUSTLEY FISH IT WAS ; HERE'S A LAUGH FOR YOU . WHEN I WENT TO LEAVE THE DAM , STARTED PULLING UP THE FISH STRINGER AND DROPED MY STEELHEAD BOX INTO THE RIVER . HAD TO BORROW A NET TO RETRIVE IT . GET UP TO THE PARKING LOT , SET IT ON TOP OF THE JEEP TO GRAB THE KEYS . OPEN UP THE JEEP AND PUT THE FISH , ROD AND VEST IN . AWAY I GO . HALF WAY HOME I PASS THIS CAR AND HEAR SOMETHING BOUNCE OFF THE ROOF , YEP THE STEELHEAD BOX ! PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY , TURNED AROUND AND START WATCHING THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR MY BOX . NOW WHEN IT FLEW OFF I WAS PASSING A CAR SO WHAT SIDE WOULD IT BE ON ? THATS RIGHT , "CRUNCH" . I RAN OVER MY OWN TACKLE BOX !!!!!!!!!! ALL MY HOOKS WERE IN PILL BOTTLES , THEY REMAINED SAFE . THE SNAP SWIVILS AND BARREL SWIVILS WITH ALL THE SINKERS AND SPLITSHOT NOW DECORATE THE HIGHWAY . OH YEA , MY BOBBERS DON'T BOB ANYMORE , LOL !
ya you do have to wear a bigfishtackle shirt, jacket, cap, beenie or any other Bigfishtackle wear.
yepper's fresh and salt are seperate. and you may enter both.... this is why I ask you to post what kind of water you fished to catch it in. Save me a headake or two so I dont have to fighure it out in the middle of the night...
lol Nice rainbow, I see you did not waist any time in closing up the the gap
Count me in.... but does this mean I have to buy a BFT tshirt... or can I make my own BFT tshirt?
Count me in for this contest! I'll post pictures as soon as I can get the hook through the slush that's still in the lakes.

This big sucker was caught in the rain using a werm that was picked up off the ground from spring's first worm rain.
