Congradulations to our first and second place Salt water division winners.
Hi and welcome to the BigFishTackle message boards. I was looking through your photos and you have some very nice fish in there. I also noticed the big one. That fish is called a Taimen. Very nice and one of the largest withing the Salmonoide Species. What did you catch it on?? I'm sure they put up a big fight just like Salmon do here. Please feel free to share with us anytime.
Welcome, that is some beutifull country. Thanks for veiw. I like the fish, what is the name of it? we dont have any thing like that in Great Lakes state of michigan. if you are a charter guide you are welcome to share your reports on this board; Charter & Guide Reviews Registered users Charter and Guide Review board. (Registered User Board) we would love to hear about your adventures
I badly understand English language, but I want to show what fish we catch in Russia on the river Bikin, here my photos http://www.gogelmogel.boom.ru[/size]
Fun is fun no matter what lake that they put the Pacific Ocean on top of.
HUH ? I think you did a fantastic job !!!!!!!! The heck with a calculator , I enjoyed it !
I discovered my calculator quit working about two/thirds in to the event. buttons were intermeadiatly not working. sorry for any inconvinance. I know every bodies score was off a bit. Thats why I wasnt giving who was leading reports this year... I offer my sincerest opologies,
congrads to everyone and dave ,your the man[inline "not worthy.gif"]
Congrats to all whom participated. Thanks Davetclown for helping to keep up with all of us BFT anglers while trying to get your own in as well. I hope this year will be a good year for all of us.
I'de like to say congradulations everyone ! Another funfilled B.F.T. compitition has sucessfully been acomplished . Big Dave , a thunderous applause to you for all your work and scorekeeping ! Yeeee Haaaaaaa ! To all of my B.F.T fishing buddys that participated , what a great bunch of fish ! Whoops , I meen the fish pics you posted , I wouldn't call my buddys a bunch of fish , but then again would we not mind being called a fish , well any kinda fish but a sucker , huh ? Too bad there wern't more jumping in on this free contest but that's there loss ! I guess they will never know what kind of fun there missing and we really can't explain it to them . I meen , if someone never tasted chocalate and you tried to tell them about it , ya' think they would try it ? probably not , it's brown and creamy , dosen't look to apitising but , one try and there begging for more . Now for some fishermans bull talk ; I have my excuses for not posting more fish ; some of the fish that I cought were so big they added 30 or 40 LBS. to my camera after every shot . Wading the streams and rivers with that kinda weight on you is unsafe , especially if your a skinny guy like me . I did catch a magic singing fish but he was camera shy , boy could that fish sing ! If we had a talent contest for the fish i woulda submited one of his songs I recorded , that would have been a first place winner guarinteed ! I thought I had a talking fish last July , but it turned out to be just another large mouth . Next is the ol' work excuse , regular work , yard work , fiddiling with the house work , honey-do work , working on the boat and working on working and working on not working . All that kinda work and only me and my shadow to do it all , yea , it was tough , my shadow is skinnyer than me and he can't lift as much as I can . Ya could say my shadow couldn't hold a candle to me (think about it , LOL !) Next contest thou , I ain't gonna be holding back , in fact I'm gonna be holding two rods in each hand ! The boats are all ready , moter tuned up , I even sent the oars in to the guy that makes fender guitars and had him tune them in . I've been practicing my fish calls too , made my own fish caller too . it's two soup cans with a string tied between them , lower one can into the lake and do your fish calls into the other , here fishey fishey ! Guarinteed , you guys are gonna have to head off to the fish market to keep up with me next contest , just remember this thou , most of those fishmarket fish are probabley the little fellers I thru back in .
Congrats to everyone!!!! I know I enjoyed the catching and the feasting. I could of had more pics but the guy I was fishing with was a terriable photographer. LETS GET MORE PEOPLE INVOLVED FOR 06. CHIEF
Yes Northern Pike definetly give you a workout
Great fish Lonehunter, glad to see someone from the north are getting fish. I'd say you need a red hat for that one.LOL
Why thank you ! They give a battle but, not like those big northern pike you get up there .
P.S. Yea , good eating , pink meat just like a salmon !
When they come in from the lakes there just as shiney as a snook , When you see them flash in a deep hole you know your going to be there for a while , that's why I don't wear a watch anymore , If I knew how much time I was spending trying to catch a fish I might decide to go hunting instead , LOL !
Ice fishing is better on the west side of the state than in the central area where I live . The temps are up and down so much that we have thin ice or really thin ice . I've gone thru a few times in my life and I can't bring myself to pushing my luck anymore . I have been waiting for fishable ice on a river lake by me , theres muskey in those watters and it's pretty common to pull a half dosen 40 to 50 pounders out of it every winter . Lake Cadillac on the west side is where I've been getting some perch , not big ones but tastey none the less . We have a icefishing walleye contest in Saganaw " Shiver on the River " is what the media calles it . $15,000 first prise for the biggest walleye . This year the contest is being done by guys in boats or standing from shore , not a speck of ice on the river . How goes the ice in your area ?
Yes....Really nice fish
Ni-i-i-i-ce fish, lonehunter! It's almost as pretty as a snook! Is it good eatin'?
Nice fish Allen, How's the ice fishing been for you? Chief
Although I didn't get to Bigfish 2's location , I did find a fish that would have been a dandy to have a pic taken with him . This is a 30" ,15# winter buck steelhead , with a Wisconson gillplate clip . I got this steelie at Tippy Dam , cought on a steelhead spawnbag , 6# test line , #20 single egg circlehook around 3P.M. on January 21 , 2006 . Look at that red color , isn't it something !
I know what you mean, its always best to get them uploaded, or burned on a disk. ya never know when you will need a copy of one of your catches some tiem in the future...
Looks like im too late. I had about 6 fish that I was going to enter in this contest. I put the pictures on my computer and then somehow they all got deleted And I had already cleared my camera so I couldnt reload them again. 06 HERE I COME
Go get em Chief. I'll give you a shoutout as I'm flying by. I have a few baja trips planned for this year as well. Good luck while you're down there and I hope you have a good time. Just don't drink the water. The beer is the same color as the water but has a better taste to it.
The Chief is ready for another run. Watch out tube I'm headed to Porta Valarta this June I hope to give you a good run at the biggest fish. If anyone is down there then I'll be the one in the BIGFISH TACKLE T SHIRT. I've been working out for the last three months and will continue so I can land that big one. Chief
Fishing?? Fishing????? did someone say fishing???? I'm ready to go and just put in a fresh roll of film in my digital camera.
I'm ready for the '06 contest... I didn't have my camera with me, but so far this year I've caught a 19" permit, 17" pompano, 23" trout, 29" crevalle jack, 22" bluefish, 20" ladyfish, and 18" sheepshead to go with the 30" snook mentioned in the last post... get the contest up and I'll catch 'em again! Snook.Hooker
Your welcome, are you up for a full run at the 2006 season?
Wow - thanks! You're too good to me! Congrats to TubeN2 on his, too! Caught a 30" Sunday, but the season is closed until 02.01.06 - but I'm keeping in practice! Thanks again, DaveT! Paul, the snook hooker
It's all good bro. We will wait for you to catch us in your boat. That should be easy while I'm on my float tube.
Congrads to both of you guys. Getting a nice collection for yourselfs. Two months till I put the boat in, then it's my turn.
Yee haw. I love those red hats. Congrats to Snook Hooker for Nov.
in my area the only way to wet a line is to tap in to our superbowl beer keg early and dip our lines in that. every thing here is crusted over like a giant slurpy big gulp and just as soft.
I'm done as far as submissions go. We had some nasty weather the last couple of weeks of December which limited me to Shore fishing and no Big Fish.
for every one who made it out for a holiday fishing trip you have till the 15 of January to develop your film and get in your entries. I will be closing this out at midnight my time on the 15th. that is 8 pm California time.

How could I be so lucky?? With a two headed coin againt me and still winn?? Come on guys and gals. If you don't enter, you can't win. These are some of the best and most prestigous hats that BFT has ever produced. They really do help you catch fish. Just look at this one!!
This one was a tough one to call, only two people entered a fish for the month of July. tubeN2 and davetclown (me) so I grabbed my two headed coin and called it in the air heads I win and tails you loose.
(wouldnt ya know it, the coin landed on its side)
Nice fish Tomc, Those Marios are really producing for you.
ok,ok here is my entry for saltwater, a 23 in fluke caught in fishers island sound,in conn, weight 5.1 pound
Best of luck to you partner. I hope you are able to catch a big one. I have a few more to post but I left my camera at my Mom's house. I got a nice 32in Halibut which is kind of like your fluke out there. If you feel like making a couple of extra hours journey, you can come over to the West coast. I'll be glad to let you fish some of my honey holes in the big salty.
yesterday the Wife and I decided to go to Texas for a long weekend so I will be hitting the Gulf again then maybe I can get me some more entries since the only thing biting here in Jersey is Fluke 2 weeks ago I went up to Conn. to meet up with GDN443 and TomC we fished in block island sound and up in rhode island and all we caught was fluke go figure we aren't even getting the big summer Blues we usually get this time of year its been a weird season but the fluke are plentiful and fat and goooooooood eating but when I hit the beach in texas watch out I probably won't catch you tuben2 but I will have some more entries and maybe another big fish
Hey DDR, you are more than welcome to join me anytime that you can make it out this way.
Largemouth Bass 19 inches Commerce Twp Michigan cought 7-30-05 on a google eye by extreem lures
tubeN2, those are some beautiful saltwater fish you caught. I wish I could join ya in catching such little creatures. Okay, I think I need to get out more often. I haven't had luck catching anything lately! I had a smallmouth bass on but just as I got it to the net it threw the hook and swam off. Grrrr.
I hope you guys play it safe over there. I guess that those little waterized wind storms can reek havoc for you.
I'm headed to the ocean on the 17th fishing for stripers in the Merrimack River and also will take a day party boat out for some bottom fishing. I have my new penn 345GTI to try out. Hopefully the storms stay away. Chief
Congrats on the RED HAT
No fast one here just haven't been able to get out till last thursday got a limit of fluke but nothing bigger than what I already entered the storms have the fish all messed up here the stripers have already headed north due to the rapid water warm up the blues are all small and weakfish haven't showed up yet but my fishing time will increase now that the MIL ius home and getting better in 2 weeks I'm going up to Conn. to fish with GDN443 and TomC so lets see what that brings and we still have the Fall striper run to look foward to to quote the rolling stones "time tiiiime is on my side yes it is" LOL
Yay! Now I just need to catch some fish sometime this month.
Hey chief, I'm just lucky to catch a fish. I guess it's the red hat. hee hee. I'm still waiting for my big one to come in. While you're watching me, I think Hutch00 may be pulling a fast one on both of us. Good luck and have fun for goodness sake.
Steve you keep raising the bar on me I hope I can get into some big fish on my next trip to the Ocean on the 17th. May be a nice big whale Cod. Chief

What a great week at Black Lake NY caught 5 Northern Pike, 5 Walleye 4 largemouth bass and plenty of crappie perch and blue gills. water temp was very high in the upper 70's and some days low 80's fish I think were a little stressed. We didn't catch the amount of crappies we wanted but did manage some everyday. We were fishing near the village of Edwardsville. Fresh water Crappie 10.5" caught on 6/12/05 Northern Pike 25.5" caught on 6/12/05 walleye 25.5" caught on 6/10/05 Perch 12" caught on 6/14/05 Blue Cat Fish 28" caught on 6/17/05 Blue gill 9.5" caught on 6/17/05 Largemouth Bass 14.5" caught on 6/16/05 All fish except the largemouth were caught on ultralight tackle and 4lb. test line. So you can imagine the amount of play required to bring in a northern and large walleye.Lots of fun!!!!!!
Here are some of my big Pike that I caught on our recent trip up to Canada. The Biggest fish caught the Pic in the Red sewatshirt was 42 inches long and 24 lbs. The one wit hthe sun glasses was 38 inches long. Lots of fun
here's a 15.5 " walleye cought at the beaverton dam ,beaverton ,mi.on 6-14-05 ,on a leach. my photographer is doing her best . she had her hands full that day , literly . i hooked into a tiger musky a little over 40" , she held onto the camera , car keys, and my wallet as i headed into the river fighting the big beast for about an hour and a half , 8lb. test line and no leader , that was a battle that the fish won . she landed a dandy little smallie her first cast .
lonehunter, awesome pics! especially the ones with fishingirl2. bet she had fun that day!
auggh ! here's a couple freshwater species , but the 8"painted turtle was released unharmed and the smb already hit the frypan before i realised my pic with the fish and turtle didn't come out , however , fishingirl2's pic did come out . caugh at chapel dam (wiggins lake dam ) around 5p.m. 6-13-05 , gladwin , mi. on leaches . other fish cought today were a couple northern pike , rock bass , black crappie and some gills and sunfish , those pics didn't come out either . my only witnesses were this softshelled turtle and this snapping turtle . look out guys , i plan on racking up some points this comming weekend , lol !
Yay! I finally have a fish to enter! Woohoo! I need to go out and catch more fish. Watch out guys, I have more fishing time on my hands this year. Fresh Water Name of the species: Largemouth Bass Length (weight optional): 18 inches Date caught: June 3, 2005 City and state caught in: Coon Rapids, MN at Crooked Lake
I'll be wearing it. Bummer on the stomach problem. I'm sure we can get Tom to post some of his fish. Better luck next week on your getting out. Off to VT today for 5-days. Maybe I can post some other fish to the contest.
Congrats on the red hat hope you will be wearing it in July when I come up to Conn to fish with you and tom now tom Has to get an entry into the contest and I need to get out there was supposed to go today but had to cancel due to a stomach bug not good to be out in a boat with a bad stomach sooner or later I'll get a decent day in
Way to go. It wasn't till I got mine that enabled me to catch a fish or two.
Thanks guys, my white one is getting tatterd. Maybe that's why it's lucky. Can't wait to break in the new one.
