Hello Friends, I'm planning a trip to Newport, OR on the 8-10th of February. I'll be doing a little crabbing from the docks and would also like to try some fishing from the docks and from the jetty. I've heard of a lot of people catching rockfish and ling cod from the docks, but since this will be my first time, I'm sure I'll need a little help and a lot of luck to be successful. Any help would be greatly appreciated. FishHungry
Hey there fish hungry! Sounds like you're going to have a great trip. From what I can see, you've already got your room and board figured out. That's a good thing. I'd go as far to say that this won't be your first trip to this location. First and foremost, i'd say you'd also need to post this question on the Oregon board, or maybe even the saltwater board. It seems like you're more looking for fishing tips, and that you already have the trip itself figured out. No worries though. Check out this link: http://www.dfw.state.or.us/ This is the link to the oregon natural resources site. I'd say your best bet would be to contact them to get an accurate fishing report. I couldn't find one online that was just for Newport. Also, make sure you check out the Oregon message board, that is probably your best resource for local tips, tactics, and info. Let me know if there is anything else I can do! Good luck! Be sure and post what ever info you find out and where you got it from. I get alot of anglers heading to Oregon this time of year, you're info might just help out another angler! Thanks partner Bryan D.
