Jimmy Rogers has been a high profile angler for over thirty years. The 1-Shot Catch Alot, the lure that combines all the best features of a crank bait with a patented bleeding bullet. A lure so powerful that pros across the country are using it from Alaska to Australia and every fishing hole in between!
I like to use the foxy poxy brand. be sure to have the screw already setting in th oil before you mix the plastic. you will need to get the screw in the plastic before it hardens. otherwise you will have to drillout the screw hole. I like this brand because I can make as much or as little as I need.
What's the name of the liquid plastic that you use? And do you think WD-40 or Liquid Wrench would work for the lubricant?
Would love to give this a try. I do alot of fishing for small mouth. How does it work for them. Thanks
I personaly own 6 hundred rolls of duct tape, 300 rolls of silver 300 gray... I am in the market for 300 rolls camo duct tape
LOL. I bet you're a fan of the Red Green show on PBS.
ya know I quite often strip screw holes when changing set ups replacing hooks replacing eye screws in my lures. I found that a tube of liquid plastic and a small can of whale oil will fix almost any thing in a pinch and last a good long time. what I do is shoot a little of the plastic in the hole dip the threads of the screw in the oil then screw it in all the way. the plastic hardens around the lure but wont stick to the screw. I am one of them guys that old Tim Talor would be proud of if I think I can fix it, I will, wether there is a warenty on it or not. I dont know if it is that I am a cheep skate or if it is; I want it fixed and I want it fixed yesterday when it is broken and I cant wait till tomarow........
Well, I've run into a little problems with one of the two bodies... as I was tightening the screw that holds the lips in, suddenly it spun very loosely even before the screw was in all the way. Makes me wonder about the quality of the product. The papers that came with it said that they'll replace the body for free... just pay $5.99 for shipping. I think it's kind of a rip-off. I work for a mail-order company and we charge less than that for items that weigh much more.
man are they lucky that I was not the sheriff. I would have thrown them in jail till I could-a fond me an inturperter. Ignorance is one of the 9/10ths of the law....
Here in Minnesota they have postings that state where the no-wake zones are. There's one lake in particular that I know of that's totally "no-wake". Haha. Shoulda seen how quickly the Sheriff was at getting to it one day when a couple guys took their jet ski's out there. LOL. They spoke perfect English while my buddy was yelling at them and they were yelling back. But as soon as the Sheriff got there, suddenly they hardly understood English.
I do a lot of shore fishing my self. I am not able to man handle the boat any more. you may want to check to see if there is a no wake law in your state. one that states thay they must go slow around shallow areas and so many feet away from shore. them jet skies and jet boats are becomming a nusance for anglers. when the primary drive was a prop, craft owners had to be causous of what they drove over and near. now they just seem to not care.
Took it out like I said I would and, lo and behold, stupid group of people with a jet ski kept coming in and out of the area I was fishing... lined up and taking turns on the one jet ski they brought. According to the vehicle owner, he's got 3 others and there was only 4 people there. Why couldn't they bring all 4 and leave my fish alone? Couldn't catch a thing with them zooming in and out of the boat launch area (only shore access availabe in the area). Gonna try again some other time when there's nobody around. I've seen no signs stating that there's a closing time for this county park like there are in all other parks I've been to. So I might try some night fishing if I can get enough nerve to live with the bugs.
the fishing turned back one for me too the other day. yesterday I was watching a little pike reek havoc on the weed beds. big o'l snapper too with a neck about 2 1/2 feet long. when I first saw it I thought it was some one reaching out of the water for help. scared me there for a second, not there was a turtle, but the thought of some one needing help. hope I get him when I have a net in my hand.
Found my next from shore testing ground. I was catchin' small largemouth's there today with just some jigs. Didn't have the 1-shot Catch-a-lot with me. Fish were plentiful from where I was. Gonna hafta pick up some slop-skippin' stuff to get the biggiest hooked. But I'm definitely gonna test the 1-shot catch-a-lot right next to the pads.
good luck on the lake. concentrate on shelves, near weedbeds, and dropoffs. hit all the areas you would normaly fish when you are looking for dinner. I hear ya about them no fish days, I had one yesterday. one small 8 in large mouth for the whole day, and I threw every thing in my box at them. must be a moon faze
Got to the trout pond today. I must be doing something wrong. Either that or I'm way down on my luck with fishing or they just ain't biting. I'm told there's Bass, Trout (of course), and a few other types of fish in there. Only thing that came close was too small to get the hook in it's mouth. Of course, them little guys were goin' after the swivel on my line once I gave up on the 1-shot Catch-A-Lot. After the pond, I went across the path to the Mississippi and tried it in running water. No luck there either but it held up to the riprap quite well! Again, my biggest complaint is that the effervescent shots disappear completely within 10 minutes. Much too easy to go through a bottle of them within an afternoon. Hopefully I'll get to try it from a boat on Friday (weather dependent). Might make a huge difference. I did go to the Cactus Jack website. He has a lot of 1-shot stuff. They sell three different bodies for the 1-shot Catch-A-Lot. But the shipping charges are outrageous!
double gurrrrrr on the car problem, lost my keys in the lake acouple weeks back. been a hoofer since. I am just glad my fishing hole is with in hobbleing distance. we'll be looking forward to hearing your reports...thank you
Sorry! Haven't had a chance to fish for a while. Car problems. Grrr. Hopefully I'll have another report for you in the next couple of days!
Well, I took it out for the second time. This time I went to a small lake where there's plenty of weeds and a slow slope to about the 6 foot mark and then it gets much steeper and drops to about 15 feet. I'm told there's Walleye and bass in the lake. Have yet to see them. This is where I caught my first ever Northern. Most people go there for the panfishing. There's no boat launch and most fishing is done from the fishing peers that go from the park area toward the dropoff. But it's difficult to cast to the dropoff without a substantial amount of weight. Well, I was determined to fish the lake no matter what. If there's a bass hiding in the weeds, just maybe he'll go for the 1-shot. I changed to the shallow-diving lip, nearly losing the tiny little screw that holds the lip in place. I fan-casted for about an hour, playing with different speeds. One thing I noticed is that rather than floating most of the time, the lure actually sank most of the time. I did use the fizzing insert today. It sure looked like it was bleeding! Made a mess of my hands too! Hehe. It'd be nice if the inserts lasted longer. I can easily see myself going through a bottle of 24 fizzing tablets a day. I didn't catch anything today. But I did manage to stay clear of getting hung up most of the time I was out there. That's definitely a plus, especially for someone like me who tends to get tangled in just about every situation!
Just got one from BFT... not sure if I won a drawing or what... but I got one! Thanks! I took it out today and it's all beat up already. I only used the black and grey one. I didn't use any attractant. I was playing around with it very shallow to observe the action it gave off. I was impressed. The one thing that was missing was the little "instruction booklet". What's that extra foam thingy for? I mis-shot my casts a couple times and the lure was hitting metal railings and falling on cement pretty hard. Hehe. It held up! No holes in it. The hooks might be a little dull. Didn't catch anything with it although I did use it as a regular crankbait (without the pellets) for about 30 minutes. Then again, nobody around me at C.R. Dam was catching a thing. The fish were jumpin'- just not after any hooks. LOL. Next time I use it, I'm goin' to a lake and see what happens.
sounds like a great day, I am glad to hear them bucket mouths werent lockjawed on ya, ya gotta love them 9 inch gills. I know I do... thanks for your test results.. that just the way we like to hear them. nothing held back...
As I promised I took the one shot catch a lot to Pelican Lake. FishBoy 2 and I hit the water around 7 am in our tubes. The water was clear, the sky were blue and there was not a wind or a breeze anywhere. To start the day off we fought the skeeters that cast shadows on the right side of the truck. Man were they thick, some deep woods off put them at bay. Next FishBoy2 just has to always be the first in the water. So he headed to shore and got himself stuck in the mud. It was quite a sight seeing him struggling to get free. I had a bit better lucck I launched where the reeds had been stomped down by someone else. The lake was really shallow 2 to 3 feet until we were about 50 yards off shore. The water was clear and a toasty 71 degrees when we launched. On this trip I took all my tackle not just the 1- Shot Catch a Lot. I started out with the usual plugs and jigs, tried some plastics worms, then some top poppers. Man the Bass wanted nothing to do with me. In the mean timme FB2 has hooked and landed 3 nice bucket mouths. I go to a worm and try for the bluegill. For which I am rewarded almost instantly with a 9 incher. About this time FB2 heads back to the truck which is now about a mile and a half away. He hands me the lucky lure a black on white w/red front and a black tail. I must have tossed that thing a hundred times and it never even got a look. Well it's time to break out the one and only 1-shot catch a lot lure by Catus Jack. Now this is the black body, gray underside with silver glitter. I used a white medium depth bill, and the clear under belly plug. The water temp is now around 76/78 degrees and I am fishing in 7 to 9 feet of water with heavy bottom cover. I slip in an attractant pellet close it back up and traget a fish I saw jump about 20 feet away. Blam it gets hit on the second cast as soon as it hits the water. But I fowled hooked the brute and turned him loose to catch another day. Again I cast out working the cover benlow me, again I get another strike and another fish. As I said in my 1st report I love the way this lure handles. The action is great, and when worked at varying speeds or just jerked a bit it looks just like a wounded bait fish. For the next 2 hours I caught fish after fish a total of 21 large mouths. They ragned from 12 to 15 inches and all were fat! I had some small buckets follow the lure in and I coud see the bait trail in the water from the attractant. After catching so many bass my wrist started to hurt so I trageted the bluegill again and saved the remaining attractant for FB2 so he could have some fun also. As I mentioned before the quality of these lures could be better. One of the trebble hooks broke off in a fishes mouth during the fight. That left this lure with only 2 hooks on the front lure. It in no way changed the action or the effectiveness of this lure. All of the hogs took the front hooks on these lures and they took it hard. I even had the bluegill hit it, but their mouths could not open wide enough to get over the trebble hook. Now would I buy this system? I just don't yet, to be fair I will have to give it a couple more outtings. On the next one I will use it with and without sent and compare the results. I will say this I was catching NO buckets until I used the 1-Shot Catch a Lot system. So at this point I am leaning to it works and might not be a bad investment. But one more trip to a diffeent body of water is needed. I will let ya all know how that trip goes. Good fishing and tight lines to ya all Road
Yeppers it sure does Dave. I have to say that the atractant pours out of it just like the picture on the box. It truly leaves a blood trail in the water, good thing there aren't any sharks around here.
ya you are right there, if ya dont take your bigfish logo and your camera and tape you may as well stay home. lol I did that yesterday. I stoped and my kitty hole and left my tape setting on my top my tv at home. my biggest kitty was about 7 inches. just big enough to get your hands slimey. dose that one shot have an attractant in with it? if so give that a try on them gills.
Sometimes I forget that everyone doesn't live here . Weather conditions for today ran the gambit, it started out nice and sunny, then clouded up around 2pm, dropped a few sprinkles on me, then went partly cloudy/partyly sunning. Water temp was a cool 66 and the water was crystal clear. Really surprising since it has rained for the past 3 days. Better luck? Dave I was fishing what better luck can ya have than that? Besides I left the tape sitting on top of the TV how could I show anything off I promis ya all Sat will be different. I will have some pics to share. II will be slayin them bass, now FB2 tells me the bluegil are biting also. Hmmm I wonder if I can sling that 1Shot from my fly pole?
thanks for thetest results. sounds like it would not be a bad Idea to check all the gear screws plates or any other changeable or removable parts before pitching them in to the water. I havent layed my hands on one yet. glitter dose have a tendency to fall off as the metal heats and contracts on the glue holding it. a shot of pollyurithane from a spray can will take care of that problem. I am notoriious for adding clitter to just about every thing. "I like sparkelies as for not catching fish, I have had days when a live worm with a billy club would not bring up fish. some days they just dont bite. I agree with you fully one day dosnt make a thurough test. I have a tone of rubber worms I cant catch a cold with that I give away every year to the kids. they sure look nice, but for me they never work. they work fine for the kids.... go figure... lol you forgot to mention the wether conditions. fair sunny rainy? and the water conditions, clear murky? I defanatly wish you better luck on your next venture. keep us informed, again thanks...
Well the day before yesterday I received the famous 1Shot Catch A lot fishing System. I have to tell you it was like Christmas here. I had just returned with my daughter from spending the Father Days gift certificate she had given me. There on my front door step is a great big box. She jumps out of the truck darts through the rain, then ask me "What did you buy now Dad?" I say nothing, well it was the 1Shot Catch A lot lures, and some other goodies from the boys here at Big Fish Tackle. Howíd you guys know I needed a new beenie? Thanks for the gifts guys, you are the best.
Now for the report; Iíll start by saying the box looked real good and I was impressed. Then I opened it after the initial excitement had passed I thought what a cheesy lure this is. The paint on the lure (glitter I think) was all over my hands after handling them. I continued to check them out like whatís a little loose glitter if they catch fish? I change a couple of bills and belly plates. They go on and come off without a hitch, so I set them up for a trip to Deer Creek today. Now I received the exact system that the Angler shows in his original post.
Well forgetting that I paid for an annual pass (old habits die-hard) I park along side the highway and hike a half-mile to my favorite fishing spot. I choose this spot because I always catch fish here. The fish arenít real big most of the time but there are some biggies in there.
Now when it comes to the scent pellets man do they make that lure look likes itís bleeding. Just like on the cover of the box. So I started shallow just over the top of the weed beds. After the 3rd cast I noticed that the bill wasnít in the same place as when I first started. So I pick it up and low and behold the set screw and the set screw housing are gone! Dang if a fish would have hit it, he would have had himself a fancy dancy lure, cause there was nothing holding it in at that point. So I change to the black over gray and move out to the point I change to a mid-depth bill and start working the rocks. Now these lure seem to like not getting snagged. I really liked that about them. I could work the bottom rock to rock and if they did hang, just back the line off a bit and wait a second. They would free themselves up as they are floaters. This made working this rugged shoreline a breeze. Well Iím down to just this one lure and it is certainly not my favorite color for here. So I change the belly plate on about every 5th cast and do the same with the bill. 3 hours and a little better than a mile of shore line not one single bite. I hang my head in shame, as this lake has NEVER skunked me. Also I didnít take along any other fishing tackle as I wanted to just fish with the 1Shot. I wont do that again! I like catching fish
hey hat trick. just wondering if this one shot is producing fish?
Congradusations hattrk4me () you have beeb selected to be our product selecter for this product. let us know how it works out for ya, dont leave out a single detail.
I think hattrk4me would do a good job testing such a fine product as 1 shot. there are many ways to fish them here for such a variety of fish, also it will get here in time for our opener! I was wondering if this product is sold here in Minnesota, and if it is , where ? thanks Flagmanonice -----------------
Sign me up for this! LSU Chris Kingsville, Maryland
What A great item to be able to test. The Upper Peninsula waters of Michigan would be a great proving ground for this type of set up. Also, with two kids who love the sport of fishing, I'm sure all aspects will be tested and retested off of docks at night and on the water during the day. Watch out Manistique Lakes area fisheries, the Catch A Lot Fishing System is coming. Rick
